Product Review & Giveaway: Hotmilk Lingerie Nursing Bra

I had that motherly instinct since the very beginning. I knew even before I took a pregnancy test that I was expecting. Something inside of me felt different. And you know what else felt different? My breasts. I was definitely surprised that at the outset of my pregnancy my breasts were already changing. At about four weeks of pregnancy, they felt tender, swollen, and full.

Even after my son was born those feelings did not go away. In fact, new “complications” arose such as engorgement. Sadly, during my breastfeeding journey of over fourteen months I was never able to find a bra that both made it easy for me to nurse my son and was comfortable. Most of the bras I tried were bulky and made me feel claustrophobic. Others lack any type of support and left my breasts feeling even more tender. The truth of the matter is that as a mom, you have a lot on your plate. I know I did. The last thing you want to have to worry about is trying your luck with nursing bras. Today I’m giving you a quick review on the nursing bras from Hotmilk Lingerie.

Hotmilk Lingerie had its start when co-founder Lisa Ebbing was pregnant with her first child. Like many of us, she felt limited by the maternity lingerie choices out on the market. Showoff Enigma Nursing Bra?

Hotmilk Lingerie offers nursing bras, maternity bras, and sleepwear among other items. When the company approached me, however, I chose to try out one of their nursing bras due to the dilemma I had while nursing my son. This particular bra stood out from all others due to its beautiful print and lace. This is a non-wired soft cup bra.

Designed with “growth” in mind:

It is designed with stretch on the top cup to allow for growth as well as 6 hook and eye extension for ribcage expansion. These features are extremely important in nursing bras because they allow for a more comfortable feel as your milk supply increases and decreases, during and after feedings.) These features also allow for a more comfortable feel and transition throughout your pregnancy. As your pregnancy progresses and your breasts grow you may opt for a maternity bra as transition or go straight to using a nursing bra.

Easy access:

Hotmilk Lingerie’s nursing bras are all equipped with easy to use nursing clips. Although I am no longer nursing my son, to give you a good review I wore this bra on several occasions. I was able to pull down the clips with one hand and the flaps come completely down, giving your little one full access. I specially loved how easy the clips were to pull down as I thought about how often I struggled to keep the nursing cover over my hungry son, hold him with one hand, and try to pull my bra up or down.

Supports in all the right places:

My experience with non-wired soft cup bras had not been the best. Most of the time I felt exposed and well “let down,” if you catch my drift. To be honest, this was a worry I had when I was waiting for my bra to arrive. When I finally tried the bra on, however, I was amazed. Yes, the cups are extremely soft and the fabric is breathable. Even without the wires, the bra offers great support.

The Final Verdict

I love this bra. I am no longer nursing my son and I am not pregnant but the struggles I encountered while I was are still very clear in my mind. Clear enough to wish I had this bra about two years ago. Our bodies change so much during pregnancy and after. Our breasts, specially, are ever-changing: from one month to the next and while you’re nursing, from one hour to the next. I love this bra because it has us in mind. The people who design these bras went through nursing and pregnancy themselves. They know the struggles we go through and have found a way to ease them.

On top of it all, these bras are sexy. The prints, the colors, and the lace are not something you normally see in maternity lingerie. The bra made me feel sexy and empowered. During my pregnancy some days I felt bad. In between my growing belly, the tiredness, and my swollen feet, the last thing on my mind was sexy. The lack of cute lingerie, of course, didn’t help. Having a bra like this in my collection, however, would have given me that little ounce of uplifting I needed on days like those. I definitely recommend that you add one of these bras to your collection.
