Motherhood, Reading With Nico

Toddler Approved Christmas Themed Books.

The weather has finally cooled down here in Southern California, the leaves are falling, and we can finally pretend like Christmas is right around the corner. Today I wanted to share with you some of Nick and I’s favorite Christmas themed books. Two of them are actually old in our collection, but we just recently picked up one of them this past week and we couldn’t be more in love. I hope that you find a new favorite in our [short] list!

Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad! (How the Grinch Stole Christmas!) By Dr. Seuss is of course our favorite. We picked up this pre loved edition at our local library last year for only 50 cents and Nick loved it. I don’t think I need to go into detail about the story we all love, right? I absolutely love incorporating both Spanish and English books with my little one. If you’re not fluent in Spanish I have also linked the English version.

Merry Christmas, Daniel Tiger: A Lift the Flap Book. By Angela C. Santomero. Nick was just six months old for his first Christmas and in love with Daniel Tiger. My husband got him this book for his first christmas. It is an adorable little Christmas themed board book with flaps which makes it perfect for infants and toddlers. And of course, our favorite tiger shares with us his favorite Christmas activities like decorating the tree and wrapping presents for his little sister. Ugga Mugga!

The Not Very Merry Pout-Pout Fish. By Farrar, Straus, and Giroux. This is the newest addition to our collection. Needless to say we are obsessed with the original Pout Pout Fish book, which we have raved about in previous posts, and definitely recommend you go out and get it if you don’t already have it in your collection. This holiday version is just as cute as it tells the tale of Mr. Fish and his search for the perfect gift … only to find out that the best gifts come from the heart. (Cue the awws!)

We hope you enjoyed our short list, hopefully we will be adding a few titles to our recommendation in the following weeks. We will be launching a new section in the blog #ReadingWithNico, and this is the first post from it. Make sure to follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter for more recommendations.
