I have always been embarrassed of my teeth. As I have gotten older I have gotten over the [little] gap in between my front teeth (thanks Lily Alridge), but I still tend to obsess over the stains and lack of pearly whites.
As a working mother, I have to find enough energy to “lawyer” for 8 plus hours each day and still be awake enough to be a hands on mom when I get home. This is where my soda addiction kicks in. Of course, before I knew it I was looking at dull and yellow teeth in the mirror. Unfortunately I have gone through my fair share of whitening toothpastes, strips, and pens with no avail.
I was thinking I was going to have to give up and give in to my last resort, professional whitening, when I was approached by Smile Brilliant. Today I have teamed up with Smile Brilliant to show you some unedited and unfiltered before and afters’ of my teeth along with an honest review and a chance for you to win your very own kit.

Who is Smile Brilliant?

Smile Brilliant team is made up of dental professionals with more than 30 years of teeth whitening experience. For years, the Smile Brilliant staff created
custom-fitted whitening trays for local dentists. Now, by offering this at home version and eliminating the trip to the dentist, Smile Brilliant offers the same whitening service you would receive at a professional dentist’s office but for
much less.
My Experience.
The Kit
I received a kit which included
custom-fitted trays and six whitening and desensitizing syringes. I received the T6 Sensitive System which includes 1 set of custom trays, and 18 applications of
whitening gel and 18 applications of desensitizing gel. This kit was chosen for me after I answered a few questions. Whether you have tooth sensitivity or depending on the level of stains that you have, the Smile Brilliant team has various kits to offer, which will meet your specific needs.
The Trays
The first thing you do is
create impressions of your teeth from which
custom fitted trays will be made. The kit includes catalyst and base paste to help you through this process. They even include extra paste in the event you mess up. Although the instructions are super easy, Smile Brilliant will ensure that your impressions are up to standard before your trays are produced to ensure the kit’s productivity. I ended up messing my first impressions up because I clearly cannot follow clear and easy instructions but I got it right the second time around. (yay me!) Once I mailed my second impressions over to the team I received by
custom fitted trays about
two weeks later.
Smile Brilliant includes a pre-paid envelope for you to return your impressions and they send you update e-mails to keep you in the know. I loved knowing my impressions had arrived to Smile Brilliant headquarters, and also being contacted right away once they realized my first impressions weren’t right.
The Whitening Process
The kit comes with super easy instruction guides for both the Whitening and the
Desensitizing Gel which make the process hassle-free. To get started you simply apply a thin layer of gel on the outer surface of the trays. It is recommended that you dry our teeth to the best of your ability before inserting the trays. Before inserting the trays I would brush my teeth with just a wet brush and then dry them. After about 30-40 minutes I would remove the trays and brush my teeth as normal. I applied the desensitizing gel afterwards, however, I did not use it after every session which is recommended. Personally, I did not experience
tooth sensitivity even without using the desensitizing gel but it is recommended as it reduces sensitivity and prevents future staining.
Initially I had planned to whiten during my commute to the
office. However, Smile Brilliant recommends to whiten just before bed or otherwise to refrain from consumption of food and beverage for a minimum of thirty minutes. I thought that eating and drinking just thirty minutes after whitening was probably not going to help the whitening process so I opted to whiten right before bed.
Of course this decision meant that my whitening process was somewhat slower than I would have hoped for. The truth of the matter is that some nights I barely have enough energy to eat dinner and shower so
whitening my teeth was the last thing on my mind. Nonetheless, what I love about Smile Brilliant is that you can wear the trays while finishing up some work, cleaning, or even working out which makes it much more convenient than going to the dentist’s office and sitting in a chair.
The Verdict.
I would definitely recommend Smile Brilliant. I can truthfully say that it is possibly the only whitening product I have used where I can see results right after use.
